Current Work

Anais Nin wrote, “We don’t see things as they are; we see them as we are.”  My work explores this idea of how we perceive the world around us.
Drawing on my background in art and science, my work mixes impulses from both sides of the brain: logical and random, methodical and intuitive,
textual and visual.

Paintings consist of layered ink, paper, text, oil, glitter and grit. Thinly glazed layers and folded paper create a rich patina with texture and dimension.
Handwritten phrases are often repeated, folded and disappear into the surface of the work.

Other works include interactive media installations, displayed on digital screens, that change and respond uniquely to different audiences.
Viewers transform the work as they gaze upon it, causing distortion or revealing details of the underlying text and images.

As a Pacific Northwest native, I enjoy the lush spaces between the mountains and the sea.
I’ve been living and working in Portland, OR since 2006.
